Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee was prevented from traveling within Nandigram in West Bengal. There had been clashes between her supporters and her rivals. She was attacked and hit by a stones. The police were present there but seemed helpless. Mamatha was planning to visit the house of a woman who was allegedly gang-raped by CPI-M supporters. Media persons met with the same fate.
Mamatha Banerjee later lodged an FIR at the Nandigram police station against police station officer in charge Mr Debasis Chakraborty for not arranging proper security for her. Trinamool leaders alleged that police were present at the location but failed in act. Mamatha also aid that instead of providing her with with police protection, the additional superintendent of police district had requested her to go back. |
