Washington: Pranab says Nuclear deal still is still on, but refuses to commit on timeline:
Pranab Mukharjee asks for more time from US in order to arrive at a consensus with regards to nuclear deal, he mentioned that India is willing to go ahead with the nuclear deal but the government has to work out on the finer details so that the terms of the deals are acceptable to the majority of the government.
In the news conference Pranab said "At this juncture, it is difficult for me to indicate any time frame by which we will be able to complete this process," |

Gauhati: A CBI to probe has been requested to investigate a salary scam in the "10th Assam Police Battalion". Rs 15,85,92,732 — was misappropriated between 2001 and 2003 by fourteen officers. The preliminary reports indicate that the scam was conducted by withdrawing salaries against vacant posts for over two years. Senior officers and the treasury department might also be involved in this scam. This scam first came up in 2006. Currently CBI is looking in to this issue however the Assam State government has requested CBI to step in. A separate but similar kind of scam has been detected in the "3rd Assam Police Battalion". This scam is expected to be much bigger and can run over hundred Crores. |
