We all say politicians are corrupt and we still elect them. I always used to wonder why the system is so tolerant to corrupt "Netas". I used to assume that the ignorant uneducated masses of India don't know the truth. Soon after the Satyam scandal I realized otherwise. People are just narrow minded, they are happy if someone helps them and will support them no matter what else the person did. Just like a faithful dog of a thief. As long as the dog gets its food from the master it does not care the means employed, it will attack the police trying to catch the thief only because it is faithful to its master.
I was shocked to see how people can out to support Ramalinga Raju after the Satyam scam. Educated people who could read every bit of a fraud that was committed were still supporting him. A quick search down the internet will clearly show that there are supporters sill out there. Here is just one sample case. Let us look at one of the appeals on the internet "Hi All, This message is to support Ramalinga Raju. IT people belongs to AP and their family members who knows about the social services providing by Satyam are supporting Raju and his employees. Dear Raju, please don’t loose your courage and we are all with you and we stand for satyam. We feel the happenings from the past few days were not happened for Satyam, Those happened are for the our families. We are not able to eat and sleep, continuosly watching TV for the updates. Raju always have blessings from the people who saved their lives by 108. We are all praying GOD for u. We all will see Satyam in its original stage in few days. Ramalinga Raju, You have inspired so many IT employees. We cannt imagine Satyam withour Ramalinga Raju, We need u back. You have accepted the things went wrong with you bravely which couldn’t be done by most of the people. Till today you have inspired your employees and other IT people, Now you should be inspired by your employees and your supporters messages. We will work for our Satyam family. These messages should act like the Nehru words to Indira Gandhi when he was in prison. Raju Please don’t loose and your courage and remember we are all waiting for your comeback. Forward this to many people who wants to support Ramalinga Raju. Thanks " First of all every person should selflessly dig in and see what the real issue is. Supporters make it seem as if it has been an issue with the system and Raju is an angel. He might have done several good things and should get credit for that. However it should not be a free pass to do a criminal activity. It was found that 10,000 employees in Satyam were fake. This means money was siphoned off the company for personal use. This is a clear fraud. One should understand that after a company becomes a publically traded company there is no single owner. And activities like these are means of defrauding business partners (or the shareholders of the company). It was found that several fake companies were used to siphon off money from the company. In fact if you dig deeper into the details that one would realize that the 108 Ambulance service that was supported by State government for upto 95% of its expenses. We would be better off the day we would stop blindly supporting our patrons. Ramalinga Raju is not a devil by any means but he is not a saint either. People should acknowledge it. If they feel any facts are incorrect they should do their own research to reach an unbiased conclusion. At least all educated people should go through this exercise. |
