History repeats itself but in weird ways. Nearly a decade back when the BJP lead government in India went ahead with the nuclear testing, the Pakistani government was quick to respond and within a couple of weeks they had their own Nuclear testing to prove that they are in no way inferior. Just hours after US president George Bush signed a Nuclear agreement Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari is making a trip to China and there have been indications that Pakistan was seeking a Nuclear agreement with China. Gilani stated "Pakistan will now make efforts for a civil nuclear deal and they (international community) will have to accommodate us". He went on to say "Now that the civil nuclear deal with India has been finalized, Pakistan will have the right to ask for a similar deal because we do not want there to be any discrimination" Another major news dealing with Pakistan and India that can be clubbed in this news report is about Zardari stating Kashmiri militants are “terrorists” in an interview with US based Wall Street Journal. In the same interview he stated that Pakistan never perceived India as a threat. However, the statements were immediately changed as soon as he landed back in Pakistan. The official statement now reads “The President has made it very clear that the just cause of Kashmir and its struggle for self-determination has been a consistent central position of the PPP for forty years now. There is no change in that policy. He has never called the legitimate aspirations of Kashmiris an expression of terrorism, nor has he undermined the sufferings of the Kashmiri people. All other statements about India were in context of our current bilateral relations," Since this is an Indian Based news site you should read this news article with a grain of salt. However when you check the facts it should be open that Pakistan has been projecting itself as an ally in the war against terror while they backtrack their stance back home showing support to terrorism under the guise of freedom fight.
