Kingmakers emerge as Congress go for trust vote |

Congress and the UPA government are in precarious state as they head for vote of confidence in the parliament. UPA may narrowly scrape through the vote of confidence.
The supporters of current UPA government (and the nuclear deal) are as follows: Congress 153
Samajwadi Party 39
Rashtriya Janata Dal 24
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam 16
Nationalist Congress Party 11
Pattali Makkal Katchi 6
Lok Janshakti Party 4
Marumalarchi Dravida 2
Munnetra Kazhagam
Indian Union Muslim League 1
Republican Party of India 1
This brings to total of the supporters to a number 257 which is short of the 272 number that congress needs.
The independents have become the deciding factor on whether or not the UPA government will stay in power. A few parties and independent candidates have indicated that they are going to support the government in exchange of a ministry (like former coal minister Sibu Soren).
There are a total of 19 members in the parliament who can make or break the government.
