Tough times ahead for the UPA government as Ms Mayawati withdraws her support from the UPA government. Mayawati has 17 MPs in the current Lok Sabha. There has been further polarization in the UPA government as allies take firmer stand on the nuclear deal. The government however is not expected to fall down immediately.

Mayawati cited the increasing inflation and the alleged step motherly treatment given to the state of Uttar Pradesh were the reasons why she was withdrawing the support. The real reason behind this act could be the fact that Congress and SP are becoming closer and Mayawati wants to disassociate herself with the center as the preparation for the November.

The various political parties have been aligning their position as time starting running out for the India-USA nuclear deal. Most of the UPA allies stood behind congress while the left continued to strongly oppose this deal.

The final piece of bad news to the government is due to the fact that the Inflation in India rose to 11%, which is a 13 year high. Experts feel that the growth rate of Indian economy may fall down. Meanwhile experts also feel that the Reserve Bank of India may rise the rates.
