Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP)  declared that it was quitting the UPA-Left Coordination Committee. RSP is planning to put pressure on other left parties to follow the suit and withdraw the support from the center. The red party will however continue to be part of the UPA-Left panel on the Indo-US nuclear deal. RSP  was the most vocal party that opposed the India-USA nuclear deal.

This move is a symbolic gesture since the party has only three members in the current lok sabha. The MPs are Ranen Barman from Balurghat (West Bengal ), Joachim Baxla from Alipurduar (West Bengal ) and Sanat Kumar Mandal from Joynagar (West Bengal). It is an interesting thing to note that all these members have been winning the elections in their respective constituencies in the last 4 elections.
