With the fast aproaching byelections in Andhra Pradesh the atmosphere is getting hotter. The elections are in the Telangana region of the state which is demanding a seperate state of Telangana. The seats which are left vacant by the resignation of the MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi[TRS] are going to be on polls.
Violation of rules laid by the Election Commission has become quite common during campaigning by different political parties. The ruling party The Indian National Congress is the front runner in the violation of rules.Advertising and launching of new schemes by the government is an offence, but, the Congress are beaming alot of advertisements on the telivision about the new programmes in the pipe. The misuse of power by the Home Minister Mr.Jana Reddy, canavasing in an meeting held in a Government school and usage of the electricity is being looked under scanner by the EC.Usage of unparlimentaray language in the campaigning process, mutual unrest and abusive nature of Telugu Desam and Congress are increasing. The Left parties are another twist in the tail.CPI[M] which supported the Congress in the 2004 election has joined hands with the Telugu Desam party. Telangana Rashtra Samithi[TRS] which was an allay to Congress in 2004 is fighting for its pride .TRS wishes to make the best use of the Telengana sentiment among the voters. The new commer Lok Satta, headed by Mr Jayaprakash Narayan is the one to watch out.Lets wait and see how the educated youth would be received by the voters against the political big guns. This election is the real test for the formation of the seperate state of Telangana. |
