Congress MP from Assam, Mani Kumar Subba provided documents to prove his citizenship. It has been alleged that his real name is Moni Ram Limbo, and he is a Nepali citizen who was convicted in a murder case. Supreme Court however said the documents that he produced were "not correct".
A case of cheating can be framed against him for submitting fake documents to the court.Subba can loose his membership in Parliament as he is not an Indian Citizen. A petition was filed by a Nodia resident by the name Birendra Nath Singh that the Mani Kumar Subba's real name is Moni Ram Limbo and he is a Nepali citizen. It is alleged that he escaped from a Napalese prison hospital to Assam in 1970s. Once he got to Assam he changed his name and started a contracting firm. The fake birth certificate that he submitted states that he was born in Silliguri (West Bengal). One more inaccuracy in his birth certificate is that it claims that he was born in 1958, however his year of birth is listed as 1961in the Assam Regional Passport office records. |
