A few weeks back Apple released the SDK (Software development kit) for iPhones. These SDKs usually allow independent programers to create custom applications on systems. It turns out that Apple did not release any information that would enable software developers to meddle with the music feature of the phone. So, a user cant create an application that will allow downloading music from a source other than iTunes
This strategy is seen as apples way of forcing iTune use. Apple's strategy is understandable as Amazon poses a big threat to iTunes downloads. Software developers are however very unhappy with Apples Decision. |
